The technical standards of ball mill steel balls mainly include the following aspects:

1. Material and performance requirements:

- High chromium steel balls: have excellent anti-wear properties, but low toughness and are prone to brittle fracture during use.

- Low carbon alloy steel ball: It has good toughness and low price, and its service life is more than twice that of low chromium cast ball.

- High carbon and high manganese alloy steel balls: high hardness, good toughness, and service life more than twice that of high manganese steel balls.

2. Size and proportion:

- Select the appropriate steel ball diameter and ratio according to the material properties and mill diameter. The general rule of thumb is that the initial ball capacity of the ball mill should account for 80% of the total ball capacity. The proportion of large balls is roughly the same as the percentage of coarse ore particles, and the proportion of small balls is roughly the same as the percentage of fine ore particles.

3. Add skills and wear compensation:

- When adding steel balls, the processing capacity per ton of ore should be considered, and it is best to use new super-hard wear-resistant steel balls.

- For ball mills with a diameter below 2500mm, the recommended steel ball sizes are 100mm, 80mm, and 60mm; for ball mills with a diameter above 2500mm, the recommended steel ball sizes are 120mm, 100mm, and 80mm.

4. Industry standards and technical specifications: - Standard numbers GB/T 25708-2010 and GB/T 17445-2022 respectively stipulate the technical requirements and test methods for ball mills and cast grinding balls. - The return oil temperature rise of the main bearing of the steel slag ball machine should not exceed 15°C, and the high return oil temperature should not exceed 55°C. The noise sound pressure report value during workload operation should not exceed 90dB(A). These technical standards and requirements ensure the quality and performance of ball mill steel balls and meet different working conditions and application needs.
