In the grinding operation, the consumption of steel balls is very large, accounting for more than 10 times of the lining plate of the ball mill. In order to make up for the loss of steel balls and ensure the constant particle size of the ball charge in the ball mill, it is necessary to regularly add steel balls according to a certain ratio. .
The consumption of ball mill steel balls mainly comes from mechanical wear and corrosion wear. They are "physical-mechanical" and "physical-chemical" irreversible processes that occur on the solid surface. So how to effectively reduce the cost of ball mills while ensuring the quality of the ball mill? What about the energy consumption of steel balls?
1. Change the grindability of ore
The particle size of the feed material is one of the reasons that affects the energy consumption of the steel balls of the ball mill. Generally, if the grindability of the feed particle size is small, the ore will be easier to grind, the wear of the ball mill steel balls will be smaller, and the energy consumption will be smaller; otherwise, the opposite is true.
In actual production, if you encounter ore that is difficult to grind or the ore requires fine grinding, you can consider adding certain chemicals during the grinding process to improve the grinding effect and increase the grinding time if the economic and site conditions permit. Ore efficiency; or heat treatment of ore to change the mechanical properties of the entire ore and reduce mineral hardness. Both methods can effectively reduce the energy consumption of ball mills.
2. Reduce the feed particle size
The larger the grinding particle size of the ball mill, the greater the work the ball mill will do on the material. In order to achieve the specified grinding fineness, the workload of the ball mill will inevitably increase, and subsequently, the energy consumption of the steel balls will also increase.
In order to reduce the power consumption of the ball mill, the feed particle size for grinding can be reduced. Therefore, the particle size of the crushed ore product must be small, that is, "more crushing and less grinding".
3. Reasonable steel ball filling rate
When the speed of the ball mill reaches a certain level and the filling rate is large, the steel balls will hit the material more times, resulting in a larger grinding area and faster wear. In addition, if the filling rate is too high, it will also change the motion state of the ball mill steel balls and reduce the impact on the material. Impact effect of large particle materials. On the contrary, if the filling rate is too small and the grinding effect is weak, it will not work.
