Mechanized sand refers to sand processed by auxiliary equipment such as sand making machines. Its finished product is relatively regular and can be processed into sand of different sizes according to different process requirements. The finished product of machine-made sand has uniform particle size and adjustable particle size, which can better meet daily needs and is widely used in industries such as mining, construction, metallurgy, and chemical engineering. The quality of raw materials for machine-made sand directly determines the quality of the finished product. Therefore, while engineering construction requires high requirements for aggregates, it is also necessary to pay attention to the raw materials used in machine-made sand production. This article briefly introduces the raw materials that can be used to process machine-made sand for your reference.
Several common raw materials for producing mechanism sand:
1. Natural ore
Granite
Granite is an igneous rock formed by the condensation of magma below the surface, mainly composed of feldspar, quartz, biotite, and other minerals. Granite has a fine-grained, medium grained, coarse-grained, or porphyritic structure, with uniform and fine particles, small voids, low water absorption, and good frost resistance. Granite has a uniform structure, a hard texture, and is not easily weathered, making it an excellent raw material for sand making. The density of granite is 2.63g/cm3-2.75g/cm3, and the compressive strength is 100-300Mpa. Among them, fine-grained granite can reach over 300Mpa, with a Mohs hardness of 6-7.
cobblestone
The main component of pebbles is silicon dioxide, followed by a small amount of iron oxide and trace elements and compounds such as manganese, copper, aluminum, magnesium, etc. The compressive strength is 246Mpa, the Mohs hardness is 7-8, and the bulk density is 1.85t/m ³.
Pebbles are hard, wear-resistant, and chemically stable silicate minerals. Natural pebbles undergo a series of processes such as crushing, sand making, and screening to produce river sand, which is an ideal green building material and a better alternative to natural sand.
Basalt
The main components of basalt are silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, iron oxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide (with a small amount of potassium oxide and sodium oxide), among which silicon dioxide is the most abundant, accounting for about 45% to 50%. The bulk density of basalt is 2.8-3.3g/cm3, and its compressive strength can reach 300MPa, sometimes even higher. When there are pores, the strength decreases and the Mohs hardness is 6.
Basalt is the best material for repairing highways, railways, and airport runways. It has the characteristics of wear resistance, low tensile strength, poor conductivity, high compressive strength, low crushing value, strong corrosion resistance, and good asphalt adhesion. It is the best foundation stone for the development of railway and highway transportation.
Limestone
Limestone (commonly known as bluestone) is mainly composed of calcium carbonate, usually containing 92-93% calcium carbonate. The main impurities are magnesium oxide, silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, etc. It has a block like appearance, a compressive strength of 60-140 MPa, a bulk density of 2.7 t/m ³, a coefficient of looseness of 1.5-1.6, and a Mohs hardness of 3. After limestone mining, the limestone particles formed by crushing are commonly known as stone (sand), which is a good building material.
Sandstone
Sedimentary rocks are rocks with a sand content greater than 50% and stable structure, mainly composed of quartz and feldspar, and are common raw materials for producing mechanism sand. However, due to the high content of stone powder in sedimentary rocks during the crushing process, when using them as raw materials to produce machine-made sand, sand production line equipment with good dust removal effect should be selected.
Quartz
Stones with a quartz content of over 90% can achieve good results in strength, particle shape, and other aspects, and are currently the most commonly used mechanism sand raw materials in the market.
2. Construction waste
After the demolition of buildings, concrete blocks, crushed stones, bricks and other construction waste are crushed and reprocessed to produce coarse and fine aggregates, which can replace the mining of natural stone materials and the use of natural sand, and provide them to industries such as construction and highways. Using them as raw materials to produce machine-made sand can effectively save investment costs of raw materials.
3. Slag
Slag is an industrial waste residue and a commonly used raw material for producing mechanism sand. It has a wide range of sources and low sand production costs.
